I'm soon looking to make a few mock scrapes for the first time and I was wondering what methods you guys use.
The idea I have thought of was to get some of the dirt from a scrape from a different buck from one of another of my hunting spots and use it to mock some up in my bush.

I know you can buy some of the code blue products and some of the other scents that are out there, just thought if the method i was thinking would work or not.

Also any idea when the buck this year will start making scrapes? I'm thinking with the weather being the way it is in SW Ontario I would think within the next couple weeks as the low temps will be going down below 0.

just make them underneath low hanging limbs just like the bucks use. I use tinks mock scrape spray, works good.

Bucks are already making scrapes all over where I hunt... When I got done hunting this morning I went around my bushes, had over 50 scrapes.

Kick up some dirt with your boot, then whizz on the spot.

That is the freshest testosterone you can find. ;)

I quit using liquid scents and didn't find any change in deer behavior.

I focus more on sounds now and using the wind to hide my location.

Mock scrapes can be killer. If they are done right. It does take some time, $, and knowledge to do it right. If you want some tips, shoot me a pm.

Dave.

This works . I use this method for a lot of trail cam pictures. Make sure you have an overhanging branch. Like they say "make it and they will come"

call it crazy but I have one stand that wasn't seeing much action , I read somewhere that some hunters use human urine , so what the heck .. 6 days ago I scraped the ground with a stick , rubbed a willow bare and left some of my own "scent" on each. Well be damned if I didnt go back yesterday, I have two new scrapes and 2 rubs within 30' feet of my markings.. still undecided,at least it didnt spook anything as far as I can see.

I used to whizz in all my scrapes. It definitely brings in the smaller younger bucks, but I dont think it fools the big ones, never got a pic of a big mature buck at a scrape I freshened up. I will take the licking branch of scrapes I don't hunt and zip tie them onto the tree over the scrape I am hunting over though,......
