Hey all,

I am looking for a simple trigger guard for a stevens model 58 12 ga bolt action shotgun, it looks like this:

I have a post on the EE, but I realize that it is a long shot since these guns have not been made for a few decades.

Does anyone have a line on who has used parts bins for such things?

=============================

***I am actually thinking that I will have to make my own***
I made a mock up out of very thin aluminum, but now want to make it out of some proper steel. I need a piece that is 7" long x 3/8" wide x 1/8" thick

I will bend it and cut it as necessary, but I dont know where to get it. I tried the big box stores in the GTA and no luck. I dont want to spend lots of $$, ideally it would be a scrap piece.

Advice?

Metal supermarkets for high carbon steel, you should be able to get a piece of o1 in a 3 foot hank 3/8 in wide. You might want a little thinner then 1/8 if you can.

Otherwise home depot or canadian tire or princess auto they all carry "mild steel" in that size.

Cutting up and old hand saw will get you what you need although it will be much thinner then 1/8

Hit home depot for a drawer handle? Looks a lot like that. May even find one that fits the holes lol. Then you can get it in fancy chrome or brass tactibling your rifle.

the spoon idea is ???

is metal super markets a store? or just type of store

drawer handle never thought of that lol, but I think ill pass lol

Most of the hard ware stores have some metal 2,3,4 ft long
Called flat stock or angle

Numrich Gun Parts has them for about $12. Of course, there's a $25 fee on top of that for International Orders...but it's an option.

Cory

thank you, but considering I paid $80 for the shotgun, that would almost be half the price!!

Thanks, I did check that out, however they are too wide and I only have a hacksaw to cut it. if those are 1/8 thick thought..... hmm maybe I should be looking at something thinner 3/32" maybe?

sent an email to WPG, will see what they come up with

but still looking for a place to buy the metal bar of my dimensions

In Winnipeg I can walk into Home Depot, Canadian Tire, Princess Auto and even Walmart and find metal like you are looking for. If it is a little too wide you can always grind it down a little.

Just find out where and when is the next gun show in your area. There is always folks there with boxes full of all sorts of parts. I am sure you could find something for few bucks

the gun show suggestion is pretty good too.

I was able to source the right size bar for $3 at a larger canadian tire. rona, home depot, and princess auto were a bust
