making a shtle a straight stock?

I have a sportered No1mk3 ShtLE and I find when i fire it I need to hold it further back on the stock otherwise my wrist is in a strange angle. Would it be worth the effort to sand down the stock into a straight stock or just to get a longer buttstock?

Indeed SMLE's came with different lengths of but stocks. (four different lengths); bantam, short, normal and long? How long is yours? Probably easier to swap it than sand it...

stock is 12 inches long and the grip is 3 inches

Since its already sportered, go with synthetic and you will never look back. I got the ramline, but its not as nice as the ATI. It doesnt kick any worse either and its lighter. Maybe the inch of recoil pad on the butstock helps.

"...stock is 12 inches long..." That's a short. Sanding it down won't help. Find a longer stock.
