I have a old enfield no.3 with a cut down stock, I got it that way. Anyway I was thinking about building more of a sporting stock for it. I really don't know how accurate the rifle is, as it does not have a front sight anymore. The best I can do with it is point it and shoot from not that far away and hope I hit the target. As it is presently modified, I don't think it is worth much, so I was thinking about making a new stock for it and putting on a scope. It might be more trouble that its worth, but I like working with wood and have the tools. The scope might be different, but I have a buddy with a machine shop and together we might be able to build a set if rings for it.
Has anyone tried this sort of thing with this rifle before? If so I would like to get a feeling for the pitfalls I might encounter.
Thanks.

You can buy a scope mount for it. Some don't even require drilling and tapping. Boyds might have a wooden stock for it available off the shelf, and RamLine and ATI both make synthetic ones that fit.

No, you won't be the first to try it. If you are good you are better than some who have gone before and you might well have a happy ending to the project. We will certainly be interested to see how it turns out.
