hey guys im trying to make an ultra sonic cleaner but im running into a problem trying to find some sort of oscillator that will run at 500 khz. does anybody know the name of what it is that im looking for or where to buy one.

mods i hope this is the write spot to post this, if not mover for me please.

thanks nate

For the cost of a new unit being less than $100.00, it likely doesn't make sense to the average fellow to try and make one, IMHO. FS

There are lots of oscillators out there that run at that frequency, and many times faster than that. Every ham radio operator uses them in their radios. Many old time operators will have old radios with them, or the parts, just in their junk box.
What's needed to make the cleaner, if you had the oscillator?

I am an ultrasonic tech. the way they determine the frequency is to stimulate a transducer , a crystal or ceramic pezieo-electric material, and the crystal is half a wave length thick. It is fairly simple electronics. but for the price of one I would buy it, I do not think it is worth the work...

I wonder why you're looking for a 500Khz transducer. Typically these are in 40-80Khz range for ultrasonic cleaning.

If you REALLY want to make one, here's a schematic, FWIW:

Your best bet for finding transducers would be on e-bay. A 50W transducer will run you $30-50:

, so its probably easier to buy a complete unit, like others said. Unless, of course, you enjoy DIY electronics. ;)
