Ok I know nothing about 3D printers can someone tell me what I would need to know and do to make a set of grips for my single action pistol

Well, you need to know how to operate a 3D printer, and unless you happen to find files for the grips you want to make you need to know how to use some sort of design software to design your own.

For revolver grips you will also likely want to do some kind of post processing (filling, sanding, etc) as I don't think you'd be able to print in an orientation that'd give you a nice surface finish... I could be wrong about that though.

1: buy 3d printer plus filament
2: assemble
3: find file of what you want
4: print

or
1: buy 3d printer plus filament
2: assemble
3.1: learn CAD
3.2: DESIGN what you want
3.3: realize its crap
3.4: redesign
3.5: still not right
3.6: #### it maybe someone else has done this already
4: print

I have a grip for a Walther GSP target pistol... print files were available on thingiverse. The grip is ok. Slippery. Heavier than wood. Careful printing is required, as is a full knowledge of thermal control of the print bed to ensure the "straight" and "flat" parts of the grip remain straight and flat through the printing process.

Next attempt will be using wood-infused filament to get something other than a plastic-look and plastic-feel.

Find a nice set and buy them... if you really want a full custom grip you can print one.

But you would have to either find a cad file or make one.

You near ottawa? I can help you out.

Try messing around with a free CAD program like FreeCAD for example. Once you make a drawing that you like, you can always contract the 3D printing out to someone already set up. Lots of US around....

Herbert &Schmidt is the make of the gun its a 22cal single action I posted that im looking for grips so long I have givin up looking

My dad plays around with one at the local library there are lots of existing designs for the 1911 but I asked if he could do some grips for my blackhawk. There really aren’t a lot of single action grip designs out there already made. You would no doubt have to get them designed from scratch. He tried making them from scratch but had a lot of troube getting the curve right and gave up. As for the 1911 grips they are prone to cracking.
