Making mags fit SKS-D rifle

Hey yall

I recently bought a magpul pmag hoping it would fit my SKS-D, and just like how I read everywhere on here, it did not and needs some modding. I’ve seen people say that steel mags work better so I am going to try that but in between then, I was hoping for a video tutorial or a step by step process of how do make the pmag fit the rifle.

I’ve tried placing the mag in to see where the gun makes marks on it to shave away but haven’t been successful and with the plastic it’s very easy to take off too much then it’s $50 wasted.

I also have the factory stock installed but will be buying a fab defense chassis as I like the ergonomics and love the AK style look of it, so if further modding will be needed, any tips would be great.
 
The SKS -D and M models can be very picky on mags! Yes fitting is possible but does not always work. Years ago I would pick up as many mags as I could to find ones that fit or easily modified. Then sell or trade the ones that didn’t work. They all can be slightly different as I have had ones that fit in some and not in others or jam so hard you have to take the rifle apart. No quick fix on that sorry.
