don't laugh.
Yes- I want to attempt to make my Norinco HP9-1 a half decent hunting shotgun.
Now with a 14" barrel- thats something that must be attended to first.
Now, from what I've heard- (and my experience having torn this gun down several times) is that getting a Rem barrel, and slapping it on, may seem like the most obvious choice here, is that this model of Norinco doesn't take well to Rem parts. I was talking to a local gunsmith, and he said he may be able to do it- but no guaruntees.
The other choice, of course, is simply getting the barrel on the Norinco threaded, to accept a full choke Rem barrel choke.
That fixes one issue.
The second issue being is sights- the current one on the Norinco is a bead- and yea, I know its a shotgun, put I'd like to get rails on this, and mount a red dot. (Or something else- anything really, so long as its better than a bead sight)
Any solutions for getting some rails on this bad boy? If the gun goes to the smith to be threaded, or to get a new barrel retro-fitted on: could some pictinny rails be mounted by the smith, or is there something that I could do to get rails on it?
The third issue is the weight of the gun. As it stands, this gun is fairly heavy, but manageable. Though after getting a new barrel on OR threaded with a choke on, rails and a red-dot: it'll be much heavier. I don't really care about getting the weight cut down, but I figure if I can get a pistol grip foregrip on- it'll be easier to carry around the bush. Now- does anyone know if this model of Norinco takes to a foregrip modelled for a Remington 780?
