I shot this deer a few yrs ago. While processing the meat, I noticed one hind leg was smaller than the other, but really didn't pay too much attention to it. I later found out that if the animal is lamed, it will sometimes produce a malformed horn on the opposing side of the animal as the injury. This was the case with this deer.

Nice pic WhelanLad, very sorry to hear your GWP has passed. Are you planning on getting a pup? We lost our last dog Jan.2nd, 2010 and 8 days later picked up our new pup "Nos"... Puppies have a knack at keeping you occupied...

Chin up!

Cheers
Jay

Nice big stag, interesting head gear...:)

Condolences on the pup...

We took this bull a few years ago, suspect it was a sharp blow that caused the deformation. He also had teeth missing...

Blargon - I am fairly certain that is a rare Moose-Black Wildebeest hybrid.

Whelenlad - sorry to hear about the dog.

Do Moose Shed there massive antlers each year?
Those are some rare looking units! some of these sambar get handle bars an all sorts of malormations, this is definatley a cull, although he would gain something i doubted it would be anything half decent.

Wow! true freaks of nature. This reminds me of that picture of the whitetail deer with one antler that grew inwards and came out on the side of it's face.
