I lived on the east coast for a spell. There were shots going off near the highways and in the small villages. Not justifying it at all but this sort of crap has been going on for years with limited enforcement. Can't say things are much better anywhere in the country. There's always an idiot with a rifle that screws things up for the rest of that follow the laws.
