A fed bear is a dead bear. I guess he didn't get the memo.

I really don't see how you can call the bear a trophy any more than shooting a cow in a pasture is a trophy. Shooting the bear because you want/need the meat is one thing but in this case my impression is that it was shot as a trophy ie something to show your prowess as a hunter. From comments made so far in this thread I am left with the impression that the hunter knew the bear was tame and had known so for several years..
What is interesting is that most of the people commenting would have criticized a person for road hunting but seem to be in total agreement with knowingly killing a semi domesticated bear and calling it a trophy

Those saying the guy should be arrested for feeding wildlife...how do you reconcile this with bear baiting
I would feed a bear table scraps (but no pies!) to get 900 pounds of bear meat several years down the road...
Ok, who wasted pies to feed a bear?
I wish people around here fed the bears.
Wonder what would have happened when Bozo the monster bear got old and couldn't hunt for himself, or his "buddy" could no longer feed him?
I would feel a lot worse for the poor man or woman who had an ill and hungry Bozo knock on their door for a desperate handout...
