Man fights off and kills lynx with bare hands

Didn't look like much as he held up the frozen body but I have no doubt it could have done some serious damage. Good on him for doing what had to be done to protect his dogs!

I had one of these suckers follow me down a trail while hunting a few years ago. I just happened to turn around and see him about 15 feet behind me. We both froze for a second as we locked eyes. It wasn't until I snapped the rifle up to my shoulder that he took off. Disappeared almost instantly in the bush. I traced his steps back and he was following my for a couple hundred meters. I think he liked the bear lure scent I had tried out on some trees at the edge of a clearing and followed it to me.

He could've done some damage if he wanted.

They are curious cats for sure...I wouldn't worry too much about one following you. No real danger there....just curiosity.

Had one on my property in Byng Inlet last summer early in the morning. At first it was my Blue Merle Aussie but I looked down to my side and the merle was beside me. A beautiful animal, but thank goodness my dog didn't see it as I think she would have lost.

We have lots of Lynx around here....every few years the rabbit population explodes and you see lots of lynx, probably 1 a week. When the rabbit population declines then I might see only 2-3 a year. I have seen a few that would be upwards of 60lbs...wouldnt surprise me at all.
