Man mistakes cow for coyote

An all too common mistake in some parts of the country...

Well with the prices of cattle going to the auction now, at least the farmer might be able to sell this one to the stupid hunter and make a good buck!

I'm sure the guy was an expert hunter and he was after a real trophy coyote. This one even had horns and lots of prime meat. :jerkit:
Not to mention a gallon of tasty yote milk. :D:D:D:D:D
Congratulations to the successful hunt. :D:D:D:D:D

I don't believe that any significant number of farm animal shootings are cases of "mistaken identity" They are almost all cases of vandalism with guns. unfortunately, a few sick individuals just like to blow things away. too bad any of those incidents are even considered to be "accidents" - Makes real hunters look stupid and the murdering vandals get off with a small fine or less.

The story is out of Michigan... And we know those US states have some weird rules that way. ;)

"Shooting coyotes is illegal during deer-shooting season and authorities asked the county prosecutor to bring charges."

that's news to me

I'm still trying to figure how a guy mistook a COW of all things, which has a profile, colour, SIZE and demeanour that's nothing like a 'yote, for a 'yote...

Maybe he was worried because he didn't have a tag for "Ukrainian moose"?

One question I have is, what caliber was he hunting those yotes with? It must have been a pretty big one to take down a cow...

I'm guessing buddy had a *beef* with his neighbor and wanted to settle a score by shooting his cow. Buddy maybe isn't the sharpest tool in the shed and the best excuse he can come up with is the ol' "I thought it was a 'yote". As far as what he killed it with...well .223 and .243 are common varmint calibers and would easily kill a cow at close range. I've seen a few drop like a ton of bricks from a 22lr to the head.
