Since a dealer have put up for sale those MR88 357 mag, i am reading everything i can on them and since we will see some MR73 357 mag in the spring, i really am in the middle of heavy indécisions as which one i could get...

Interresting to discover a firearm i had little knowledge about...
Story to follow... JP.:)

I love stories….I don't know much about Manurhin revolvers other than the fact that they're expensive. If I were looking at that price range you have to consider a Korth too.
I prefer the "looks" of the Korth…a cross between a Python and a GP100. So do you want a German or French made revolver?
I'm sure you can't go wrong with either.

I totally agree. Very nice guns.

The MR88s are tempting and well priced, at probably half the cost of what the MR73s will come it at. The MR73s are something special with a very cool heritage, but from what I understand, the MR88s are still very well built and given they are based on the Ruger platform, very strong. If I was in your shoes, I might be considering both. Can't really make a bad decision on these either way.

Both, maybe not but one of the 2 is very possible, peoples dont seem to be rushing to get the MR88, i would like to see real life reviews on them...

The MR 73 is very well documented, no problem there... JP.

It would be a hard call because it isn't really a direct comparison. If price is no object or you want to have the best iconic Manurhin revolver, the MR73 is the way to go. If you want a great shooting, interesting revolver that is different from the pack, and doesn't cost so much that you will cringe with every handling mark, the MR88 seems like a great option. It doesn't surprise me that they have not flown off the shelves as they are not common and most don't know about them. Once they are gone, though, we are unlikely to see more for a while.

Yes, but aren't Korth more like $6-7,000 compared to about half of that for a MR73?

I'd be hesitant to buy the MR88 without a better understanding of how they differ from the MR73 and why the cost is so much less. What are you giving up? Also, the Ruger connection is a bit of a turn off to me as I'm not a great fan of Ruger handguns in general.

Trade Ex could certainly do a better job of selling the gun by having more info in the listing. The background story on Manurhin in general and the MR88 in particular, it's features, what makes it so good etc etc

Yup, Korth's are more than twice the price of an MR73... The attention to details and craftsmanship of a Korth as to be seen to believe. It's indeed one of the most beautiful revolver made today. In term of reliability, accuracy and strength the Manhurin is the one and only. Both MR88 and 73 cyl. will hold a double charge of .357, both will be as accurate from a rest. The only real difference between the two is the internal and blue. The 73 is a lot smoother and more refined in term of finish and trigger pull.

The 9mm cylinder would be cool for sure but adds a lot to the price of the gun (I'm told about 1K from a collector in the US - not a factory source though). The straight up 357/38 will be enough of a stretch for me I suspect.

The accuracy of all these guns are going to be great and we are probably into the realm of sample variation. The Korth is also engineered to take a beating. Maybe not as much as the MR73, but certainly more than anything coming out of NA with the exception of maybe the Freedom Arms 83s. To me Korth still reigns but cost puts it out of contention. The MR73 is not really a compromise though.

Seem to remember somebody having a Korth in stock in the last year or so.....Wanstalls maybe?

Had a few words with Gary today about the Korth, he is soon to have pricing for 2016 and they may be a custom order en route for them revolvers, that did brightened up my day... JP.:d

Manurhin revolvers are interresting indeed.

They didn't get that much attention in North America but they are famous in Europe. Not as glamour as the Korth but outstanding quality.
