Manitoba Bucks only

Well I'll take any window dressing "do good" regulation over not doing anything at all. All three prairie provinces have had some very harsh winters lately, and with new regulations, it should only help enhance quantity and quality deer populations. Still there is room for improvement in Manitoba, if they are still allowing to harvest three whitetails with the three different weapons. Alberta and Saskatchewan the same, they should reduce doe tags or eliminate them all together because of high winter mortality and hunting pressure.

We've had one deer per year only for a couple of years. Now it's one buck per year.
It will do little in many areas as the "locals" have already taken dozens this spring in my vicinity, and will continue to do so throughout the year. Same goes for elk and moose populations for which there is no licensed season in many areas. The ungulate population in MB will be virtually nonexistent within a decade or so unless changes are made to put everyone on a level playing field. Equality.

I guess that Federal prevails over Provincial legislation. Although I support First Nations, I would hope, or wish, that Indigenous People would understand or respect that animals numbers are low.

Not exactly, it has to do with which treaty was signed, and that varies provincially.

If they want those rights to hunt any time, anywhere, for anything, like they did "before the white man" then they should have to use the tools from "before the white man." If they want to walk around the bush with a wooden bow or spear, by all means have at it. But no more beater cars cruising around the countryside with 4 guys with 4 rifles shooting anything that moves.

My son and I were bowhunting (no rifles open) for bull moose a few years ago, south-west of Dryden . He had dropped me off near a beaver dam and continued down the logging road to another area about a half mile away .
About a half hour before the end of legal hunting time , I hear a vehicle coming towards me on the gravel road .Thinking that it is my son returning I ease on back towards the road and hunker down behind some thick brush to await the slowly moving vehicle, which is just coming through the last curve . It is not my half ton truck but a 4-door sedan with 4 people in it . 2 females are in the front . The 2 males in the back are sitting on the window sills with high-powered rifles pointing in opposite directions. I get a little lower as they slowly coast by but I don't worry too much because I'm wearing complete camo including a face mask .
By the time they reach the end of the road(one mile) where our camp is set up and return (much faster) my son is back with the truck (lights on) . The guys are no longer sitting on the window sills . No waves just baleful stares .
We have found young bull moose dead alongside the road with just the hind quarters taken .

The north side of the Duck Mountain Park and the Porcupine Forest have a really low deer population right now, however the Swan River Valley between them still have good deer numbers. I think the problems with the low deer numbers north and south of me has more to do with predators than the winter weather.

This spring it was looking kind of bare, there were no deer, no tracks and no dead on the side of the roads, but now with the snow gone I am seeing lots of deer. It was almost like they were hibernating thy had disapeared so completely

...my farm borders SK...used to buy one deer tag for bow/muzzle/rifle, but now one for each (and only one deer/year)...banned moose hunting here, but either ### across the road...only one buck now, but not across the road...
