Absolutely correct! There are very few deer in manitoba. I only hunt there because it's easier walking than BC or Alberta, and the scenery is marginally more pleasant than Saskatchewan. And very few of those pesky deer so the chances of getting your hands dirty are pretty remote.
I agree theres little game.
I only go there cause the beer is always cold and the people I hunt with are pleasant and somehow they tolerate me..
Got a chuckle when I read "so says the guys who can't hit a moving deer" I was thinking exactly the same when I read his comment. I've read that in a lot of places in Europe pushing bush is the only way they hunt and some of our so called expert magazine writer hunters have been totally humbled with their inability on moving game.

Just have to shoot the front legs off...slow's em down a lot so as easyer to hit
My 5x5 145 buck that I shot this year had all 4 legs. Only one hole through the boiler room. I shot him while he was trotting by at 75 yards. I was hunting by myself, something spooked him across the clearing I was sitting by, and going "mahh" didn't stop him. I don't like people looking down their noses at how others hunt, as long as its legal. You're still killing Bambi's daddy just like everyone else, anti hunters think you're a neandrathal like the rest of us.
Back to the op; Hardly any deer here, M12shooter is such an effective deer slaughtering machine that populations are very low. A few years of him pushing bush should cure that....
Saskatchewan is much better!

In praise of Manitoba hunters, Ive seen some shooting skill that only a western hunter can do with all the years of experience on moving game.

As far as shooting a standing deer out 25-200yrds from a stand with a good rifle not very hard for most hunters not even a chalenge for anyone I hunt with.Put a nice buck down while being chased out by a pair of Redbone Hounds in thick bush & swamp will leave memories that will never be forgotten. The world record typical was chased out so take that ney sayers
I remember a show on deer drives some years back In Alberta. A nice buck was chased out to David Blanton under 70yds. it wasn't running hard but David missed it clean with four shots. He couldn't believe he missed, and didn't know what he did wrong. This was a seasoned hunter who had taken many deer.

That record book that past us three pointers was something else!... It wasnt in Manitoba though,.... it was in northern western Ontario im perdy sure lol.
There ain no big bucks west of Ontario.
Has anyone stated what "pushing" entails? M12 states 8 guys pushing with two on point...that would concern me as well..however I love small pushes of two guys through small bluffs with two or so guys (even one) on point. Looking at the deer on my wall I can confirm it works...
The first week of hunting,we have as many as 20 hunters in our group..Up to 4 on point,the rest push..2 mile pushes are the norm.We have been hunting this way ,give or take with the same crew for years.A lot of the same areas.A SAFTY meeting starts out the day.IF NOT SURE THEN DO NOT SHOOT.
I dont know GT.. those small antlered bucks you guys got running around out there can make a man loose his mind for a second...
