How are the Manitoba grouse hunters making out this year.
I'm having a better year by many times than the past couple.
I've seen more birds in 6 hrs total hunting than I saw all last year.
Saturday and Sunday we saw / flushed 19 ....shot 3. Would have been better with my pointer but I was actually up working at the cottage lot.

I haven't seen numbers like that in a very long time, care to reveal a general whereabouts you put up the birds

Rennie Forest....went back again and saw about half but it was a windy day

Went out Sunday with a friend and we saw 7 or 8 but only got 3 of them. We started out with one of us with a .22 and the other with the 12 gauge. We should have both had 12's and we would have gotten at least 5. I've been out a few times this year and usually have gotten one or two. Sunday was by far the most action I've seen this year. I think it was because it was a perfect day - sunny, little or no wind, warm but not hot, and the temp dropping sharply at dusk. My hunting has all been about an hour North of the city (not to be too specific!).

If you can find an area where ATVs haven't been burning up the trails all summer and fall you'll see more birds. Go about 2 hours NE of Winnipeg, anywhere.
