Manitoba night hunting application

I have questioned C.Os about this.

I point out one of the cardinal rules of firearm safety is "Beware of your target and beyond".

How that is established after dark???

One year I ended up with a bullet hole in my truck because we camp/park along a logging road.

Natives night hunt and shoot down roads

I also had natives stop by camp after dark and one time they had more Ganga smoke rolling out the windows of a zCheech and Chong movie....and they had rifles onto he seat....likely loaded.

COs are scared of Natives.... especially after dark?

It's bull#### but it's the way of the world now....

That is the crux of it... COs are terrified of Natives and refuse to interact with them. Politicians are no different. Laws are meaningless if not enforced.

Sorry boys. But don’t throw the COs under the bus. Whether we like it or not they are confined by the courts. In particular the Supreme Court of Canada. Court decisions especially at that level are the law of the land like it or not. Once a Supreme Court decision there is no going back and no opportunity to appeal the decision. So it is very important that cases that go forward have a very high degree of success. To say they are scared of natives is untrue they enforce the law within the confines of the law which are evolving every day.

The night hunt permit is for crown land only, unfortunately most night hunters hunt mostly on private farm fields where the game is.
Got a deer/elk thank a farmer!

Reminds me of a police chief in a Sk. city
Quite a few years ago I had a russian night scope, gen 1, A cattle rancher bought it for spring calving season. He said it was great on his 243

Friends of mine tell me about hunting in the queen Charrlote’s. your average guy stops to fuel up in the moring before the hunt. Still dark out. The Indians are stoping on there way home from the hint. Back of the truck loaded with deer before the sun has come up. Different rules for different coloured people is just wrong.

The unfortunate thing is something like this will never make the mainstream media. It's literally real, government sanctioned racism but the people who benefit and the people who are at a detriment because of this are the wrong colour to fit the narrative correctly.

Sucks to suck.

Through the 70's 80's and 90's I hunted on full moon nights on crown land. I was told that as long as I did not use any artificial light it was ok. An 8x56 Pecar scope with a #4 cross hair was prefect for the job.

Really? Think about that for a minute, all the rights based hunters will be out officially coyote and pig hunting at night. Never gonna happen, thankfully.

Is that a bad thing? You allow thermal and I2 nods, and night hunting is a pretty sweet thing. Look down south to see how effective it can be. I'm not opposed to people hunting at night, and I realize I'm in the minority saying that.

Night hunting has always been a thing. Its allowed in the US and everyone can participate. Night hunting has always been legal in manitoba for first nations but the first nations and the government and wildlife have decided to stop it to try and help the moose population. First nations are still allowed only if they get a permit. I don't have a problem with night hunting if its done safely. The drunk stoned first nations you say hunt at night could just as easily do that during the day. I live a long way from any reserves or first nation peoples so The white guys here do the drunk stoned idiot stuff. It happens everywhere and doesn't matter what colour of skin you have.

Many hunters can't tell the difference between a sheep/horse/dog/coyote/pig/elk in daylight, I wonder how that would work at night? You'd have to double the amount of game wardens in the province, and they're already understaffed. I know you're thinking that you'd get hunters with a $6000 Flir scope and $1000 Foxpro call, but those would be in the minority. What you would get is people driving around with pickups and shining with a 12V powered spotlight.

Seriously boys you have to try night shooting to understand what it’s about.
I am now settled in Ontario for a season now and even without this viral issue I am experiencing much less trigger time in Canada.
Use to drive everywhere with firearms and literally shoot everyday of the week in one form or other

Remember went out foxing or we call lamping at night till about 4am
Felt tired so I climbed up a high seat and fell sleep. Woke up because of commotion below me and waked 2 deer before breakfast.
Once the meat is in the chiller went home had a shower and went to work.

Just an average shooting day.
