Manitoba Rifle Season Weather

Had a native guy in our shop on Thursday telling me that he took 7 deer out of Sandy Lands in one night last weekend...what's with that???? I thought night hunting was illegal for everyone!!
Also, when I was out at Rennie walking into my rige ..had my gun cased trigger locked and saw two guys on qudas with a search lite...they said it was legal to find the eyes then set up for the shoot the minute shooting legally begins...doesn't seem rght to me...anyone else come across similarsituations...Is this legal????

Since the definition of hunting includes pursuing, locating game and other similar terms, the guys on the quads with search lights were definately breaking the law. They were both hunting from a motor vehicle and I'm guessing hunting before legal hours.

Finally saw my buck i have been trying get all rifle season. He finally came to my grunt 20 min before sunset and then stood behind the willows just passed my creek. Couldn't get a clean shot on him. SOB, i was mad. Oh well, he'll be a great 4x4 next year.

Coyote numbers are up that much in manitoba as well? I live in Alberta. I was out at my uncles farm and could not believe the coyotes out there, they were sitting right in the farmyard broad daylight teasing my uncles dog.

Coyote numbers and wolf numbers are well up, especially wolves in the Whiteshell. Apparently there was a story in the Free Press this past weekend but I missed it as I was in Fargo. Anyone else see the story?

yep crazydave, the are high here too, so are the wolves. At my grandfather's cabin, the group of hunters there bring deer into the back door, into a kinda cold room in the basement to hang before butchering... while my grandfather was working on a side of deer, he looked up at the basement window while stretching his back, and there was a coyote looking through the window at him... he ran up the back stairs, and here was another sniffing around the back door where the deer were brought in. Both left as soon as he opened the door!!! gut piles don't last but shortly after dark, and if you down a deer but don't find it, it will be gone in the morning, We saw coyote's running across a field towards gunshots... they have extended the trapping harvest here, but I'm afraid more drastic action will need to be taken....

They told me they weren't hunting yet ..just looking for eyes and that they set up there then to shoot the minute the 1/2 hour before sunrise starts. Didn;'t sound right to me but I was on my way on foot into a ridge that I've shot before( had my gun cased and trigger locked)
Their guns were also on racks on the front of their quads without trigger locks..I don't know if they were loaded, I had my own hunting to attend to...didn't have a pen to get their licence plate numbers.
