I just moved to Winnipeg from the Ontario GTA. The boxes are unpacked, now it's time to do some scouting and establish some hunting turf. Big game is out of the question for this year, as I'm cosidered a non-resident for another four months - tags are just too expensive :(. Waterfowling is an attractive option, but its been years since I've done it. I'm a bit overwhelmed with the vastness of this province and hardly know where to start. I've been out for a few drives looking for the combination of water and nearby corn fields - a good starting point , but there is certainly some large gaps between places. I'm south of Winnipeg and have seen some promising looking places to hunt, but often there are no farmhouses around to door knock at in order to get permission. That and the farmers are pretty busy this time of year... Can any of you local guys help a fellow CGN'er narrow down a hunting area? Anyone looking for Waterfowl hunting partners???

So how are you guys making out so far? I'm simply amazed at the number of geese in this province. I've been messing about south of Mars Hill - truly awesome bird hunting in Manitoba. I've never seen freshly cut fields carpeted with geese like I do here...:dancingbanana:.

Haven't picked up a license yet, but I will be before the weekend. I usually head west of the city, but you have to have permission, which is usually given no prob.
