This one has me stumped.

Sporterized from an M91 6.5 x 52mm (I think). The serial number (962) is located after dismantling; both trigger group and receiver match. Bore is crisp & shiny.

But look at the trigger group.....it has a set-trigger, that looks factory installed....! (?)

The previous owner said that Remington bought a number of surplus M91's back in the 50's, added set triggers, and re-sold them as sporters. Not sure how true that is......

Anyone else have any info on this before it goes on the EE?

Cool, I have one just like that. I shoot 6.5x52 in mine. The sights are pretty crude (come to think, the whole thing is) but she's pretty accurate.

Are you sure it is 6.5x52MC and not 6.5x54MS? The MC will fire in a MS chamber, but headspace is excessive.

I'm going to check on that when I get home on the wknd. I did have two boxes of Dominion 6.5x54MS. I fired them but found they were difficult to chamber. I bought 6.5X52MC dies and trimmed them down. Also have a good batch of Norma 6.5X52MC that shoot nice. But after reading Andy's thread on the Eatons Cooey 6.5s I'm going to give this a closer look.

Tks guys.

Andy keeps his Eaton Carcanos in his Studebaker! :D:stirthepot2:

Quit living in the past - it was the best car ever made, but I sold it and now have a '78 Granada.

Nice gun, but nearly as purdy as this one.

No, I did not try to fire although we had ammo....

All you city folk and yer fancy "sportin rifles". When I was a boy we didn't have your ammunition and the like. We sharpened the muzzle on a rock and used it as a spear. Our hands would be raw and we never killed nothing, but we were ignorant and we liked it!

That wins the bubba trophy hands-down!

saw one for sale a few months ago looking the same as that first rifle posted set triggers and all...thats what I hear to Eatons rifles.
