I have watched a few episodes of Mantracker, it took me about 3 episodes before I thought to myelf...

Some of these guys go to extremes to hide, cover their tracks etc. But what about the camera crew? Can mantracker not pick up on their tracks? or just plain see them, getting the perfect shot?

The biggest problem with all of these reality shows is --- They AIN"T REAL!!
Like you just said, "what about the camera crew??!!
Pure crap and a waste of time - any of those BS shows.

Ill take Daves side here, its 30 minutes of your life perfectly wasted on a corupted tv BS show, I am a GSAR member and work closly with true licenced mantrackers, this guy is a joke, how is it tracking when he has a guide from the area and they blindside the prey? thats not tracking its guestimating, to watch a true mantracker at work is pricless, on the ground on there hands and knees with the pace rod and a flashlight

kind of like taking your poodle out cougar sniffing over the trusted hound ;)

Amen to that. I spent 4 days at Nordegg and most of it was crawling looking for the next-to-invisible.......mantracking aint a ###y job for sure. But I enjoyed it. I'll tell ya, if you can mantrack sitting on a horse you are God....and Terry aint god.

IMO, if the "Mantracker" show generates more interest into tracking skills, then it is good. Most people/hunters think there are only tracks if there's 1" of snow on the ground. Whether or not he is the best, doesn't matter.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I remember one episode, they were trying to hide in some not so thick forest. Maybe if they were alone they could hide, but I'm sure the camera crew sticks out like a sore thumb.

I like the show to it's good fun but do you ever wonder how hard they are to find dragging a full camera crew along with them and with helicopters flying over them for those arial shots? :bsFlag:

The cards are all stacked in the trackers favour they have a time limit and a known end point. If they wanted to improve the show and make it a more realistic tracking situation only those escaping would know the end point and the Man Tracker would only be given a starting point and have to read the sign and terrain to catch them.

Edit: Sorry guys I didn't read to the end it looks like several of you have wondered about the cameras. They should just give the escapees handy cams and have it like the blair witch project in addition to not having a known end point. All that he should know is that they have 2 travel days to get there.

In all fairness, one should ask how/where the camera crews are ... It's not unthinkable that camera crews are at locations where the "trackees" will pass Or that the aforementions trackees are wearing some sort of locator beacon, making it easy for camera crews to catch up to them at regular intervals.
