I had a 20" AR with the gas system off for that purpose which I find more accurate and reloading is more precious without worrying about cycling. The MRA is just the ticket.

No, they are specifically meant to not fit any semi-automatic firearm. If the 180-based NR rifles are prohibited by a future OIC, you could harvest their non-receiver parts for use with either, though you would need to get a new bolt, as the 180 bolt differs from that of an AR. Though if the 180 style rifles are prohibited, either or both manufactures may produce a BCG that could actuate a 180 bolt, should that be possible for a reasonable funds outlay.

I know. Owning 15 ARs, this is a wishful thinking on my part as so i can cannibalize some of my stuff for a NR 18p build
 
Why just one? Getting both seems like a good idea. :)

Yeah. I can see myself ending up with one of each.
 
I will admit that I'm a little worried about getting barrels and other parts across the border right now.

I've heard rumors of CBSA stopping anything remotely AR-15 related from crossing the border.
 
I'm on the SB list for 2 units. I will start there. I suspect I will end up with at least one MRA set too.

I'm on the fence about spring assist. Will is be looked upon as too close to semi auto for future gun bans? Hard to say but the thought has crossed my mind after watching all the crazy shenanigans with the FRT. But more importantly I don't know if I care if a non semi auto has spring assist or not, so I suppose I will need to try it and see.:)
 
If you don't have a donor gun, MRA makes the required parts, and will sell you a build kit and eventually complete guns. Spectre sells pistol grips and brakes, and you can also get Canadian made IBI barrels and Cross Industries Lar-15 Cross Mags. I'm sure various gun retailers have plenty of non receiver parts in inventory they would love to part with. Good luck!

If this practice continues, it looks like an opportunity for a Canadian company. It will cost more of course as the sheer volume produced by American companies keeps pricing competitive. Maybe these rifles will promote more gun owners to get this style of firearm as well.
 
What do you do to the gas port on an existing ar barrel? I might look into this if things dont change after the amnesty is up.

MRA is making a little ring that just seals it off at the gas journal. You can run a gas block backwards or clamp it down too far forward or I was wondering about jb weld, or tapping a very small set screw.
 
If I wanted to use a front sight base, etc., I think I would just fit a short little solid plug the diameter of the gas tube, and pin it in place.
 
I am hoping to receive an MRA receiver set end of this month.

I like what SBI had done with giving their 3d printer plans out for free and the "manual" that they have published.

I am not a fan of having to buy a new reaction rod for the MRA receiver set.

For those who dont like the spring assist - the firearm should function fine without it, no?

I will likely buy an SBI "large caliber" receiver set once they are available , just to have supported both companies.

Lots of handguards can’t fit over the Kodiak/Wolverine gas block. The trigger pins are longer than standard AR. The bolt hold open is not the same design as AR. The Ruger American Ranch is not accurate. It’s pretty embarrassing for a bolt action to say the least. The build quality is also garbage and yet they charge near the price of a Tikka T3X Synthetic/Blued .223rem all because it uses an AR may.
 
Are we already considering either of those as our new black/green rifles??? Spectre is a bit of a joke, they can't handle any sort of criticism without freaking out and banning people on their pathetic little Facebook page.

48 hours to pay or outright lose your spot is also a bit extreme.
