X2 I use only the guns i built for hunting
.300mag on a p17 enfield, 308norma on a mauser, 338 winchester on a p14,
.270 on a vz24, and a 243 on a mauser
I don't think there is anything wrong with most of the North American rifles, and there are some absolute beauties for sure, but I am a sucker for a fine piece of Italian art. Many of the good European brands just manage to achieve that little bit of extra fit and finish that makes me long to hold them. And some nice exotic woods too...
The best high performance rifle is like the best car, computer, boat etc. It is an amalgam of superlative parts. No factory barrel comes close to the best custom.
I own a few you have listed in the poll. Like them all for different reasons. But if I had to stay with one company, it would have to be ba-dum-dee-da.....Sturm, Ruger & Co.
They all, from the #1, to the Hawkeyes, to the new SR22, fit me well. WRT the SR22, I have yet to shoot it, but it LOOKS good
I had to go with savage as i own 3 of them, they are extremly accurate well built, cost effective rifles that even if they do fail parts are easily found.
For center fires I had to go with the Remmy..... 700 that is!
Rimfires..... I own quite a few, and most are not from the same manuf.... I do own a couple of 10/22's and a couple of savages, but the others span the spectrum. Cooey to Gevarm.
Well the rifles that I have been buying lately have all been Cz's, in the 452 Rimfires or the Mini Mauser 527 centerfires, in 223, 22 Hornet, 221 Fireball, 204 Ruger, 19 Calhoon. FS
