For the machinists out there,

Is it a relatively easy task to manufacture a savage barrel nut? I've recently had the only large shank barrel nut that I own, gaul and basically cold weld to one of my barrels. I ended up cutting it off to try and salvage the barrel. No one in Canada seems to have any...so I got to thinking, why doesn't some gun nut machinist start making and marketing them?

Easy to make but hard to make money at it when they go for about $15. if someone wants to buy 100's of them, sure.
Anyone trying to make just 1 is wasting time if charging less than a $100 for it and even then I likely wouldn't touch it unless if was for my own gun.

And for this next one be sure to use some grease or Never Seize on the threads.......

To make any money at it someone would need to gear up and do a bunch on production machines. So it's either a one off for someone like you that wants/needs it NOW or do thousands and have them sit around for literally years while they dribble out the door in onesies and twosies.

If I ever rebarel one of my savage from a blank, there will not be any barrel nut.
And if I really need one, at the price they sell,I would not waist time making one unless I need it now and they are BO everywere
