Manurhin MR73 357 mag round count

Well, according to Chapuis Armes France, the Manurhin MR73 is tough as nails.

"... tests have shown that it can withstand 170,000 rounds of .357 Mag ammunition fired at full power without showing any signs of wear." According to Chapuis Arms France.

170,000 rounds ? Maybe. And then maybe not. A lot of money for a revolver that did not quite make it to 170,000 rounds. In fact, some 155,000 rounds short.

My guess is that a Ruger GP100 revolver could go to 170,000 rounds - and over. I DO NOT own a GP100 revolver. Never did. But I do know that Ruger GP100 revolvers are very strong - and very tough. Same for any Dan Wesson revolver in .357 Magnum caliber.
I do, but I'll never shoot a quarter of a million dollars of ammo through it. That's a staggering round count. I don't think there'd be any throat, forcing cone, or rifling left at half that round count?
The GP100 is a little tank, no doubt about it, but it's not infallible.

If you surf on the Internet regarding the durability of the Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum revolver, you will eventually find that - supposedly - Mike Shovel, from Cor-Bon, has written something quite interesting on the subject. Cor-Bon does not load wimpy revolver ammunition - not really.

Supposedly again, Cor-Bon has pushed a Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum revolver to 200,000 rounds, using it in their load developments. The revolver was still shooting groups of about 2" at 25 yards, from a rest. I cannot find the site on which Mike Shovel wrote that assertion - naturally. Is it true ? I do not know. But the assertion is still floating around on the Internet. At least, that assertion caught my attention. For sure.

If Manurhin MR73 .357 Magnum revolvers can go to 170,000 rounds, maybe some other tough revolvers can too. The fact is that Manurhin MR73 revolvers are sold as being able - on paper - to go to 170,00 rounds, let's say on average. The Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum revolvers are not sold as being able to do it but maybe they can give the MR73 revolvers a pretty good run for their money - much less money indeed.

Interesting, it looks like erosion to me. That's unfortunate because deep down inside I was really rooting for square pegs, round holes, mishandling, and time.

Just out of curiosity, how does mishandling crack the forcing cone? Also, I would imagine that the renter is required to use in-house supplied factory ammo, no?
The timing and alignment between the forcing cone and cylinder could have been messed up by an accumulation of the Humphrey Bogart manoeuvre—the revolver abuse we often see in the movies, where the cylinder is closed forcefully either with a flick of the wrist of the strong hand, or slammed shut via a slapping opposite hand.
