MAR-17 rifle.....? Someone with FRT access please advise

So I got the January issue of the Canadian Access paper the other day (yes they usually come out 2 weeks early) and on page 16 there is a half-age ad for yet another NR AR-15 styled rifle.

The website link in the ad is just a one page site with the same image https://mar-17.c om/

Can anyone with FRT access confirm this exists as NR?
 
The receiver looks a lot like the Maccabee. Are you sure this isn't just some company doing builds on MDI receivers and selling them?

Or maybe since there's no patent on the MDI they just copied them?

Either way the receiver looks awfully similar.

It certainly could be, I do believe this ad is from "ColtStoreCanada" in BC and they've had ads in this paper previously selling MacDef rifles which is why I thought selling it under a different name would be a bit unusual if that is the case
 
From that ad it looks 100% a maccabee receiver.

I know that ATRS wouldn't give up the exclusivity of manufacturing their receivers, but it seems like it would save MDI a whole lot of hassle that they are struggling with.
 
Called them up and god some more details.

Yup it’s built on a Macbee receiver set, IBI heavy profile barrel, CCMG bcg, standard milspec trigger, priced at $2399

The company is “colt store Canada”, they’re building these in this configuration as standard but they also said they will build to whatever options are wanted, barrel profile, low profile gas block and free float hand guard etc...
 
I wouldn’t buy anything from that store. If it’s the same store located in Abbotsford bc it is an absolute #### hole. I found it one day driving buy. I got buzzed in and the place smells like dog piss and #### with piss stains all over the carpet. There was a big aquarium full of algae that also added to the lovely aroma. Two massive dogs barking down the hallway.
I was escorted to a small gun room with lots of overpriced pistols and rifles. Not a great experience and if a business is run like that I would never buy a thing built by them. The kid who showed me around was just as dirty as the carpet. Went home and had a shower

So it's like everyone at a gun show condensed into a single store.
