Marauder custom top rail feasible?

I just got my Marauder chassis set up and I am not at all a fan of the high top rail and junk built in sights.

I would prefer a slightly lower rail with all the real estate available for optics or irons.

If anyone here has any machining experience could you give me an idea of how much work would be involved in making a new rail either from steel or aluminum?

The whole idea of the stock is to duplicate the g36 look and that includes the top rail. Before you condem the sights on the stock use them. I find them very good, they shoot dead nuts on.

The stock rear sight is completely adjustable, what more could you want out of them? Having a rail machined would cost more than the stock itself.
