Hi folks,

Anyone put a Marbles tang sight on a Chiappa 1892?

Anyone know the relevant part numbers?

Thanks in advance.

Brownell's has tang sights for the Rossi 92 units. Can't be certain on the Chiappa tang contour being the same as or right close to the Rossi's.
Either way, there will be some drill & tap work to do.

Very rarely do you have to do drilling and tapping. Most firearms that can take a tang sight already have at least one tang hole drilled and tapped for that purpose. Most companies, such as Marbles, provide a longer tang screw that replaces the existing tang screw (the one that holds the stock on), securing the sight base on both ends.

Sometimes drilling and tapping is required, such as installing tang sights onto my Remington No 4, which required retapping the exiting hole to a proper #10-32 (it was a weird size, close to #9-32), and adding an new #10-32 hole. This was only required because nobody makes a tang sight specifically for the No 4 any more.

This is what I got back from Chiappa

If I can get them to give me the length of the screws as well, I shall post that.

Not only are the hole spacing's & size/threads important, you have to make sure you have the proper angle of sight base so the upright of the sight is absolutely in line with the bore-tang angle. if it isn't you will have a fuzzy sight picture through the aperture. Pro-Line Sports in Calgary is a Marbles factory depo & will have the pertinent info you need.

Thanks, I shall drop them a line.

Just as an FYI, screw specs are:

Item no. 731.122 -45.5 mm Longer
Item no. 730.471 -40.5 mm Standard / stock
Item no. 730.475 -6.4mm front screw

But if anyone has any idea on which sight would fit, it would be great! Really struggling here.
