MARCH 8th m14 support group IMPORTANT UPDATE

Absolutely..thanks again Tom.
Was good to see the turnout...and some old faces, Trigger..:D
Big thanks as well, to the roommate and wife for puttin' up with us all.:runaway:

so..... who had a camera today....... start a new thread and post the pics hehehehe

I had a great time today guys, the social atmosphere was great, we got some tinkerin done..... hope you guys learned a little bit..

I want to send out a BIG thanx to those who brought stuff, food ect, and a HUGE thanx to DOC911 for his tools and his eagerness to dive in and help out... This is why regulars are ALWAYS welcome at these events...... share what you have learned ;)

Was a pleasure meeting the new guys and seeing regular faces as well....
STAY TUNED for the APRIL meeting announcement ;)

in keeping with west coast m14 suppert group tradition....... Doc911 forgot something at my place ..... again hahahaha :D everytime ...LOL...
your mini light stand was much appreciated and it will be here for you when i see you next ;)

A great time a usual. Thanks again 45ACPKING. I can't wait until next month's meeting. Perhaps a range trip.....

Hey Tom, kick me in the head when I see you Monday afternoon......
I want to boot around a possible rent of the MDRG clubhouse and maybe some past 1600hr range time to coincide w/ Hungry's trip out west.

If I remember correctly, his timing was mid-late Aug for the Wet Coast...
MDRG is 'open to the public' from the latter 1/2 of Aug, 0900 to 1600hrs, so the opportunity is there for some 300m paper punching, after a 'day'O learnin'...

Day pass is 20 bucks P/P for the range, no idea what the book fee for the clubhouse would be, plus Barney's 'cover my cost' fee...

Worth pursueing...? Any MDRG members lurkin' on this thread, please speak up....

Don't get your hopes up...
This is one entrenched, anti semi-auto/ private / self perpetuating bureaucracy that needs to be overcome...and I know where they are comin' from, after the RSO course....it won't be easy to get this to fly, if I've got the balls to put it up there for discussion with the membership...

The possibility is there, but I've got to have my s**t together, before I can even THINK of sugestin' it...

Like I said in the prior post...any MDRG members lurkin' here...?
See my current sig below....

yes i'm a member also... they(we) do have a firm 'no private rentals' type deal but if enough of us are 'members w/ guests'...we might have more of a chance. its no different than any of the other specialist groups that get their own times set aside.

you may have to go the official route and get it scheduled on the calendar board.

hey i missed seeing everyone yesterday, ill be at the next 1 though, yes im a member also with guest privilages, i also know enough members to set something, ive just got to wait for AMMO, to fuel our beasts for 300 yd fun! soon soon, im waiting for can am & also some different sources i will pm regulars with the usual wet coast deal he he.:)

Oh man, you missed the largest table full O' guns yet...
Hopefully Swampy can get some pics up..:D
You'll have to try Tom's new stock out next time....it is one sweet piece of kit:dancingbanana:

Thanks again Tom and all you other guys. One day is not enough for me to put names to faces, except for Higgens. Had a great time worth the drive for me.Stopped at the show in Chwk and talk to Mr Dlask, and got myself a vector muzzle nut(wink wink)to go with the barrel chop.Bambi burgers, what can I say.EM EM GOOD.Later guys.

sounds good guys,,,, range time after a day of tweakin and tinkerin would be very cool.

Laz and I spent the day at the HACS gun show in chilliwack today , manning his table display. Loads of fun :D

I came home with some goodies.... picked up a battlepack of SA........ and a rifle to shoot it in..... not that i needed another M14 but..... I found a heel stamped, Norinco "m14 sporter" CAL 7.62 N VI ...... My god this is the nicest norc I've seen yet...... Laz and I dropped in the 7.62 go guage..... and..... this rifle is BANG on 7.62 GO :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:
other than a loose oprod guide.... this is one sweet, as new example of an early norc rifle

This was my first time at the M14 clinic and it was great! It was nice to put some names to the faces and have a positive social event, and for a new (i.e. this week) M14 owner it was very helpful to learn from people with the tools and know how to teach me everything I wanted to know about my rifle, and more!

Thanks again to Thomas, his mrs, and the roommate for being so accomodating.

Sorry I missed the festivities ...
Tom tells me everyone was havin fun.

Just a few points ...

total number of barrel chops was TWELVE, so we beat those Esterners for the Guiness book of records entry, "Most M-14 rifles to fall into a chop saw".

One barrel looks marginal [ the one with the WELDED ON GAS ASSEMBLY ] Now who thunk that one up???

Looking down the bore there is a noticeable spot where the welding was done. The proof of the pudding is in the shooting. but personally, I would be concerned about the chrome bore liner flaking there, so for me this barrel would not be worth the effort and expense to turn, thread, crown, and mount a flashider.

This is only my personal opinion, and since you are stuck with this barrel [already chopped ], you can always gamble, do the rest oif the work, and see how it shoots. You might get lucky.

Next piece of business,
Tom tells me there were some Wet Coast attendees who covet a US GI bolt. If you have really bad headspace, as proven by Tom's gages, and have more money than brains, I do have ONE [ and only one ] HR US GI bolt available for sale ONLY to the Wet Coast members. $ 345 complete, PM me for details.

Finally,
apparently someone in the group has a FALCON tactical scope they want to sell. I just sold my big tactical scope, and am looking at the Falcons.
PM me and we can talk.

In a perfect world, I could swap the GI bolt and a bit of cash for a scope ....
[;{)

PS: I sold TWO M-14 shorties this weekend, as well as my JAE 100 stock, so I am down to ONLY one M-14 shorty ...
only one M-14 .... scary!

TOM [ the Houn DAWG ] sniffed out that MINT OLDER Norc 14, and some other swine, [ who shall remain nameless but we all know who it was cause he showed up at the seminar braggin about it ] beat me out for the last known battle pack of Hirtenberg available on the planet.

Other than that it was a GREAT gun show.

PPS: I am now riding around in my New 1992 Daihatsu 4X4 MIcro/Mini truck.
Everyone should have one or two of these for hunting, commuting, yardwork, or whatever. Once Tom does the Camo paint job on it, and I do the lift and the big tires, it will be the coolest ride in the gunshow parking lots. Bubba and his pal's will all be green with envy when they see me pull up in my lean, mean green machine [ we all must reduce our carbon footprint, but no reason why we can't have FUN doing it ].

See ya'll at the next gun show,
Victoria on April 20,
and Kamloops April 26th
