So, I've been rolling this over for a while and I kind of want to make it happen. So, essentially what I'm thinking of doing is getting a Chiappa 92 Mare's Leg in 357 Magnum and making it into a little carbine with a red dot. I have a few things I'd like to figure out before doing so.

First, I've seen a lot of the Scorpion Edition Chiappa's for a decent price, but I was looking at getting one of the no drill and tap scout mounts for it and was concerned that it would not work as it looks like the Scorpion Edition has a different rear sight than standard model 92s. If this is an issue, would it be possible to have a small scout rail installed directly to the barrel?

Second thing is, does anyone know where I can get my hands on a full length stock? I've searched everything I can think of on Google and came up with nothing.

Third, I was wondering about an XS rear peep. Couldn't find much on them for this model, was just concerned seeing as how theres not a lot of metal on that part of the receiver.

I know, it's a bit of a weird build, but I've always loved lever guns and seeing as how things are going I just want something that's not gonna be on the chopping block.

Lots of folks on here have thrown a Win 92 buttstock on their Ranch hand/Mares leg from Boyds, I adapted a Win 94 Ramline synthetic stock and fore-end on my Rossi,weighs in lighter than wood and the hollow buttstock makes for a ton of storage space.
I have seen a couple of the XS rear peeps in use on ranch hands but I personally would hate to D&T the receiver walls in that particular area.
I run a Steves Gunz rear peep on mine that replaces the factory safety.
A drill and tap job for a small section of rail wouldn't be too hard and then you could run your red-dot, I know chiappa has an optional scout rail available for the Alaskan takedowns.

That's a beauty! Definitely what I'm looking for. Is that a Rossi? I can't find those anywhere and I don't think the Chiappa's have a safety so I'm not sure if that sight settup would work. I'll keep looking, but this is definitely what I'm looking for with the addition of a rail for a red dot.

It’s a ranch hand in .45colt. AFAIK Rossi has ceased production but the EE usually has one or two available. Chiappas just have half-#### safeties as you already figured out.
 
I followed that think you posted and it looks like Grech outdoors is responsible for chiappa. I sent them an email inquiring about buying a full length stock for my 357 Scorpio (and possibly a spare short one to experiment with a removable extension) and they responded that they don’t have those parts available. I had tried a Boyd’s stock previously but it doesn’t fit. I have yet to find any information on where to get a proper stock. I hope someone coming across this thread may be able to help out

Hmmm that doesn't sound good at all. The folks at the old place were great. I wonder if you just got a half assed answer. If they can't order a replacement stock for a chiappa 92 carbine they don't sound like much use as a warranty center to me.

Really disappointing but thanks for reporting back, I'll keep that in mind if I ever have to deal with other issues for my chiappa.

I had bad luck with Grech outdoors too. Don’t answer emails or care to get back to you. I found my stock from numrich in the states. I had to get the stock, but plate and butplate screws. Fits perfectly on my chiappa 357
 
Yes unfortunately Grech’s response was quite short, indicating that they didn’t have those parts, and that was it. No elaboration or anything. I checked Brownells and numerich and they both appear to be out of stock. I see precision gun stocks carries an 1892 stock. I wonder if it would fit properly and hopefully not be too much in the way of shipping

Check the last page on numrich under chiappa parts. They are in stock
 
Try corlanes in dawson they used to keep them in stock a few years ago, put one on my 44 mag and it really improved the gun. I seem to remember I had to slightly modify the stock bolt hole. I think it was a chiappa stock and I had a rossi, been awhile since i sold the gun and my memory is a bit fuzzy

My apologies, perhaps I’m using their search function wrong but I only saw the one that says out of stock. Are you referring to their listing for the take down stocks?

I’m relatively new to lever actions so please forgive my ignorance. Is a model 92 stock a model 92 stock for any “model 92” (ie will a Rossi or Winchester stock for on my chiappa?) or are they manufacture dependant?

It’s for a full length stock.
I don’t believe all 92 stocks will fit the same brands and might need some fitting.

Ah, there it is hahaha. Thank you very much for your help. My confusion came from it being listed as “1892 TAKEDOWN NRA LIMITED EDITION” rather than chiappa. Hopefully I’ll be able to order one soon and hopefully it will fit properly!
As far as the buttplate, I have tried shouldering the crescent stock before and am not a huge fan. I’m rather full in the shoulder so it ends up digging in. I’ll likely order a buttplate as well, but may end up flattening the end and trying to find an aftermarket pad (or cut one out of sheet metal myself)
 
I'll share a couple pictures of my build, but it's not quite done.

First, I replaced the rear sight with a single piece of short rail, it was a B. to figure out the taper of that dovetail. Heat treated and cold blued. Currently housing a holosun, I'd like to put something higher end on there one day.

Next I replaced the saddle ring with a ball stud which fits a DSLR holster I bought off Wish. The holster broke late in the summer, the belt loops were made of a stiff plastic which couldn't handle the weight of the rifle. I replaced the belt loops with a tek-lok plate.

Lastly I replaced the butt plate with an extendable plate. This is just a prototype, but It adds a few inches and is the minimum length I'd want of a stock, not quite comfortable in a t-shirt, but works with a jacket. This prototype extends straight, I will probably build a second which extends at the angle of a full stock.

The holster set up requires a bit of tweeking. I might work with someone who has some kydex experience for the final version of this.

I've considered modifying a cheap AR handguard to replace the wood forend.
 
I fitted my Rossi RH's with the XS peeps. No worries on install weakening the receiver. A milling machine makes the process easy for drilling, followed by careful hand tapping with a 6-48 bottom tap. XS peeps work great for my eyes.
