Would anyone here with experience owning and/or shooting these guns have any information to share with someone considering buying one?

Anyone familiar with the Chiappa and the Henry and the Rossi? ...and could recommend one over the others?

Never had all 3. But I got a Chiappa. After 10 rounds it sheared off 2 screws holding the bbl bands on and bent over the keeper screw that goes up through the mag tube and sits in a recess in the bbl. Forend slid forwards and is jammed up with a broken screw Also shot 18" high at 25 yards. I am tired if having to fix brand new guns....

I've shot 200-300 rds through my Ranchhand (44 mag) without a hiccup.
But it's a 'Minute of Trashcan lid' at 100 yds. I got a proper buttstock in from RustyWood and now I can shoot gophers, not a naildriver but it can do it. I filed the rear notch a tad deeper too.
And the factory fodder I had would blow your ballcap off with the muzzle blast...excessive is a good word. After reloading it at proper pistol loads with 2400 and 200 FN cast it is a pleasure to shoot. No recoil or excessive noise.

i have a Chiappa in 45 Colt. its fun! sure it jumps a bit, but i find it enjoyable to shoot. just started to reload, so i am hoping to fully get used to it. the short stocks for the mare's leg/ranch hand is kind of awkward to hold though. as for quality for the Chiappa, i am totally satisfied. i have not shot very many rounds yet (under 100) so i cant speak on long term reliability. but search the site, and you will find a lot of information on this type of firearm.

I have a Rossi RH in .45 Colt... got it used buddy put about 100 rounds through it and I have 100 thought it and still good a little high on the point but still good.

I've mentioned this in other threads , only rossi chambers their 1892 actions in 454 casull , the same actions used in the ranch hand ....... no idea why their ranch hands aren't chambered in 454 , they should be ..... or even better 460 s&w .

Rossi's are decent value fer the bucks, but ya still gotta tinker on 'em to get the most accuracy & fun out
of the buggers. They are well worth getting into for lever gun fans.:)

Thanks for the reply. Do you know anyone with a Chiappa or Henry? Have you compared notes? I'm wondering which one is best. In .45, the Chiappa is in the high $900's, and the Rossi is around $500 - $600. I don't mind paying extra for a better rifle.

I'm also curious about the levers. Some are normal size, some are those huge loopy size, some in between. Does anyone know if these can be ordered separately, and if they easily interchangeable?

I've got a Rossi and a Chiappa take-down, both in .44mag. The Rossi is rougher in fit and finish, shoots too high with the stock sights (mostly corrected on mine by deepening the rear notch and filing down the top of the rear sight), and produces very decent accuracy (2 inches @ 50 yards...I doubt my eyes would allow much better with any open-sighted gun). Mine had no functional issues, but I smoothed the edges of the loading port as they came very sharp from the factory. I have a walnut magnetically-attached stock extension (made by CGN member Travel24Oz...Thanks, Andy!) that pops on or off in less than a second, and makes the gun much easier to shoot. I hope to take a deer with it this fall, and have already whacked a coyote right in the back yard. Wonderful toy.

The Chiappa takes down to fit into a single-pistol hard case. It is several cuts above the Rossi in terms of fit, finish, smoothness and general classiness. About the same accuracy, haven't shot it as much yet. Too nice to beat up in the field. I was leery of the Chiappa, having had a couple of bad experiences with other Chiappa firearms, but this one has been perfect so far. I justify owning it simply because it is too cool to sell.

I've fired one Henry, and it was accurate and functioned well, but loading it through the front mag tube like a giant .22 was a PITA.

Youtube has a sh*t load of video reviews you could watch....Or you could search this forum or just google it. That's where I made the decision to stay as far away from these as I can.
