I did some googling on this topic. I hear that the Henry's aren't really all that well made, that the sights on some are just cheap plastic, and some concern about the quality of the internals. Everybody says the action is smoother, but I heard that may be because it's made from soft materials. For $900 or so you think you'd get better quality.

Well? The Henry's look a lot nicer and have had fewer reports of problems, but they do cost a good chunk more than the Rossi's.

Thoughts?

ive got two henrys. so far no problems. a golden boy that is smoother than anything ive ever laid hands on. and a mares leg that lacks the smoothness. i just wish someone would make a stainless version in .44 or .454

Before i bought my henry 22 ml I contacted henry re the plastic parts thing - was informed that there are no plastic parts on the h001 and have not been for a number of years - I was concerned about the pot metal abit but its a 22 - if I was going large bore caliber it might be more of a concern - mine's is smooth as a baby's you know what with beautiful wood. Just MHO

Interesting. However.. the Henry's appear not to have the side loading port. That's a shame, because side loading's quite useful. How are the Chiappa's? Right now I'm leaning towards a side-loading .357 if I can find one. Maybe a .45, the ammo cost has me waffling. Whose got 'em?

I have a Rossi carbine in 45 Colt. It's light points well and eats every load and bullet I give her. Only real complaint is the stupid safety. I have also had two other Rossi's in 44 and 357 both trappers and they where both fantastic guns just wanted the 45.

If I was going to buy a 92 now I would get a Winchester, they look better built and much nicer stocks.
