Here's a stupid question - does anyone make Mark VII style .303 bullets, to be clear .310 - .312 flat based 174 grain FMJ. It was the standard service load virtually back to the dark ages, someone must make them but I can't find any. It seems that the BT has entirely taken over, but they are not interchangeable. I have loaded ammo in this config, but I'd prefer to keep that - you can't have enough 303 ball.

Nobody makes an exact bullet because the Mk VII was not just a cup n core FMJ. They had an aluminum section in the nose designed to shift weight to the rear and cause faster upset and reliable tumbling. Evidently this weight balance affects it's flight characteristics as well however the Sierra 180 FB Pro Hunter is supposed to be fairly close. RL-15 is supposed to produce good accuracy close to Mk VII velocity. All that to say both those components and more are sitting on my shelves waiting for me to start playing with my P14 and put these claims to the test. Hopefully there's some helpful information in there for you.
I'd settle for (code for buy thousands of) a straight forward flat base exposed lead FMJ - I don't particularly want it to tumble, I do want it to obturate though. Somewhat silly that they'll make a HPBT/FMJ BT and not an easier, cheaper to make, bullet that they'd probably sell more of at the same price.
