I came across some Sellier and Bellot boxer primed non corrosive 7.62x54R ammunition.
I'm wondering how many people out there would actually be interested in or actually do re-load 7.62x54R?
I'm going to collect the brass and will probably sell it cheap as I don't reload and someone else can get some use out of it.
I know most people don't re-load this caliber as the surplus is very cheap.
Anyone out there re-load this nature?

I recently got into reloading and have been using this caliber to hone my skills before I move up to loading for my 30-06. I've also been using the sellier and bellot brass. Our local gun shop sells the factory loaded stuff for $25.00. If you want to dump your brass for cheap I would welcome a PM :p

Lots of people reload this brass, and myself as well. While surplus is a nice treat when we can get it, you cannot use it for hunting. Many older rifles have larger bores, which larger diameter bullets are also not available in commercial loads.

Reloading is not just for cost savings, its also for loading superior shooting cartridges.

S&B as well as PRVI make good quality brass for loading. Don't toss it as someone will want it or buy it from you.

Good to know. Thanks guys.
I have been meaning to get into reloading. This may be the excuse I've been looking for lol :D
Two questions now:
How much would it cost/what are the basic items I would need to acquire to set up for loading this caliber?
How much do 7.62x54R projectiles and primers cost?

I almost gave up looking for PRVI brass in this caliber and I think i'll get Lapua brass.

Hirsch Precision has it for 95$/100 pcs and it can be ordered at (902)829-2932.

I hope it works for me - I have to resize it to 8x56R.

Of course if i can get S&B or PRVI cheaper ...

PS:One thing-if you are selling fired brass please de-prime it.I have seen more than a few Prvi and S&B brass with flash holes way out of center of primer pocket.

I had a small collection of once fired Norma 7.62x54 brass I'd accumulated over the years when that was about the only brand you could get. My first box cost more than the gun.

The rifle was $29.99, the cartridges $34.95.

Then I collected the Norma stuff at gun shows for about $20 a box for hunting with my Mosins and one day counted up my brass and sold it here on the EE.

I Just got into reloading and have the following

Press - Redding Boss (Decent press will last a lifetime)
Dies - Lee
Powder Measure - Mystery hand me down (lyman I think)
Scale - Mystery hand me down (lyman I think)
Primer tool- I use the Lee handheld model, you will need the proper size shell holder #16 if I recall properly. http://leeprecision.com/xcart/SHELL-HOLDER-16.html
Larger expander ball for the resizing die(Depending on your bore). The standard expander ball in the lee die is .308 I ordered the .311 ball for mine lee part number is SE2358. Oh ya slug your bore so you can determine the proper bullet to use. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinSlug.htm
Case trimmer - I have the lee handheld thinger:

Chamfer tool- RCBS hand me down

Primer pocket cleaning tool - I think I have the Lee model

I'm sure I'm probably missing something :p
Oh ya just ordered a case tumbler as well.

I did a tonne of research before reloading and had the advantage of having a father who has been reloading for decades.

Thanks

Brass 7.62x54r

I would be interested in buying your brass. Could you contact me?
New to the site and not sure how to do. Thanks in Advance

Ya I reload 7.62x54R and had a WTB ad in the EE for awhile. Never got any replies though so that tells me that people are hanging on to this somewhat rare brass.
Old Privi Partizan (nny) brass is my fave.

I am in ottawa and would be interested in some brass too, depending on price. I am shooting the surplus now and have just bought a lee press to start on 45acp reloading.

new brass

I have six boxes of new Norma brass left in stock ( as well as 6 boxes new
factory ammo) from old stock I sold for a retired fellow.
I believe I had $29.oo tax included on it, It is pricey stuff.
I will be away for day or 2 if anyone really needs it.
Marshall.
BTW, I had large amount of loading eq. for this cal, but it all got sold at
last Saskatoon gun show.

I just bought 500 rounds of prvi in 7.62x54r and 500 rounds of .30-06 prvi

1.) The m1 garand and my 91/30 PU both shoot great with it.
2.) I'm saving the brass to reload.

I know I can't afford to keep shooting commercial - so next round of purchases is going to be reloading!
