Marks on brass

Just a quick question for some of the gurus out there. My TRG is leaving dents (scratches maybe) just below the shoulder of the brass. They are deep enough to be quite visible. It is lapua brass, will this cause any reloading issues? Mostly worried about a case rupture or something.

The marks are from the ejection, forgot to mention that part.

Thanks

No problem going in or out. It is definitely during ejection, I extracted one nice and slow and held the brass straight so it wouldnt hit anything on the way out and it came out with no marks.

brass could be hitting a burr on ejection.
A way to rule out if its the ejection process is easy. chamber some brass and eject it without firing, look for that mark, if its there than you know the brass is hitting a burr during the ejection process.
to find the burr apply some white out on the brass and let dry, chamber and eject.
inspect for white out in the chamber and action. that would be your contact point.

i have had a rifle create some strange marks on my brass along the body of the case towards the base, after long inspections and rule outs it turned out to be an imperfection while cutting the chamber. there was a very tiny long scratch in the chamber and each time i fired the brass would expand and take the shape of that tiny scratch and i would get this long scratch on my brass, drove me nuts until i figured it out.

had to use a pair of magnifying loops and good light but at least i know what it is.
i find it kinda helpful now since it gives me an indication of how many times that brass was fired if i count how many tiny scratches are on it.

Just double checked with empty brass, still does it. I think when extracting the ejector forces the case into the side of the received, it could be the chamber but it is definitely occurring on extraction/ejection.

So can I reload these guys? The picture up above is brand new lapua brass so i would hate to get less than about 5 loads out of them.

Is the ejector s spring mounted pin in the bolt face?

if so, take the spring out and clip two coils. It will still eject, bit not so violently. I like the ejector to kick the case about a foot out. On most rifles, I have removed he ejector and manually remove the brass so I can put it back in the box.

IMO as the mark is behind the shoulder, and no where near the other stretch point, just above the web, yes, I would reload these. Just watch them carefully.
If you can find what is making that mark, and polish it off, that would be the best move.

I have had this condition show up on at least 3 rifles over the years. It is usually caused by a sharp edge inside the
receiver of the firearm. A light touch with a dremel stone will remove it and no more issues. Dave.

Just check my brass from TRG 22 and is the same as yours. I'll have to have a closer look.

My rifle is newer style. Which is yours? They did some upgrades a few years ago.

Not sure what year mine is. I know a few years back they had a problem with ejection being weak. Maybe they threw in a super strong spring to fix it. When running the bolt as you should it ejects all the time for me.

Thans for the replies. I will see if I can track down tbe source but I wont worry too much.
