Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has come across a Marlin 1894CSS in store/online? I haven't been able to find one in Canada online, but I'm sure there are store's I'm missing.

Here's a link to the rifle:

Unless anyone would recommend a Rossi R92 over the Marlin? I've used both the 92 Win and the Marlin but prefer the Marlin. Haven't tried a Rossi.

What caliber are you looking for and what will you be using it for, have you looked at the uberti 1873 rifles.

1894 css means he wants a 357 magnum.

Elwood epps and P&D Enterprises have them on occasion but they dont last long. I wouldn't recommend a rossi over a marlin.

Exactly highstick_10! I haven't checked Elwood, I'll do so now. Thanks for the suggestion, it's exactly what I was looking for.

@jdawg, I've seen the Uberti's but I've not handled one. Are you a fan?

Just a side note: apparently Marlin discontinued 15 or so models this year and this was one of them. So, if anyone sees one (S/S...hard to miss) please let me know. :)

I own a few Uberti's, they are amazing rifles with excellent workmanship. If you have the money I would suggest one of them over the Marlin. But I agree with highstick, do not pick a Rossi over a Marlin. The Rossi's work great and I have never had a problem with any of the ones I have owned but they lack good looks.

I've got an uberti in 357 short rifle configuration. I love it very slick and fast to handle, as well there are lots of upgrades for it. Plus they are beautiful so that's a big plus. The only downside is they aren't really built to handle the full house 357 loads, not due to the metal just due to the toggle link design.

Thanks for all the input!

It turns out that Marlin has ceased pretty much all distribution for what I've heard from dealers. They're near impossible to get in stock. Same for the Rossi (though it looks like Wanstalls has them in).

I ended up going with a 20" Chiappa 1892 .357/.38spc (they produce the Puma line as well as Cimarron, Taylors...etc). I'll put gun #### up once it's in! Personally I think they're overpriced...but they look better than the Rossi's.

Marlin is still making rifles, not sure why they would say that?

Anyways you can't go wrong with a model 92 action, very strong and slick as all hell. Put pics when u get her. Congrats on your purchase
