Hi ,Maybe i should have put this in the rimfire section but i thought it would probably get more traffic here.

Ok All you Marlin experts,

I was wondering if anyone could give me a idea of the value of a Marlin 1894M in 22 Magnum in very good to excellent shape??

Someone told me there were 16,000 made. I don't know if that is right or not.

I don't even know if i will sell it or trade it or not but i was curious to what would be a fair market value in the event that i do.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info guys.I have seen a few on some american forums over the last few years but the prices ranged from $450 to over $800 !!!

Which seemed like an awfully broad price range. They all looked the same as mine so i don't know why some were asking so much money for their's.

I thought i would ask on here cause it seems like sometime's guns go for different prices between here and the states so i thought i would get some Canadian opinions on Value.

I was offered $600 for it and the mount's and scope(just a cheap scope)here a couple of years ago but the guy wanted itreally, really bad.I didn't sell it to him well .....just because i didn't want to at the time.

By the sounds of things it was a more then fair offer for it though.Maybe i should have took it.

Thanks for the response's.Appreciate it.

$600 a couple of years ago was a pretty fair offer, but I don't think you lost out by keeping the rifle. The prices for "collectable" Marlins has been fluctuating the last year (it spiked in the US with Obama et al. but seems to be easing off), but overall I think it is on the uptrend.

You have to be pretty careful, too, when looking at the auction sites for values since rifles are often listed for high prices and never get any offers. Sometimes, if there's someone who really wants a particular model, the price may skyrocket, but good luck trying to reach that price again with your rifle unless you luck out and find another highly motivated buyer.

The 1894M is a pretty desireable Marlin to many people and I don't think you'd have any problem getting $600 for it now. I'd probably even venture to say that someone interested in owning one would probably be willing to buy $100 or $200 more.

1894m

I picked up a 1894M two years ago, very good or better condition. Arch1965 bought it off me for $550 if I recall. There were only about 8000 of them made and they are a nicely weighted rifle. A "real gun" feel as they are built on the 1894 frame. If you see one for less than $500 buy it.
