What kind of groups and at what distance are you getting with your Marlin 1895 and/or 1895 Guide Gun with Hornady's Leverevolution ammo in 45-70?

Not interested in the XLR model.

Thanks

I have the stainless guide gun. shoots really well with the leverevolution 350 Grain. About 2" groups on the bench scoped with a VXIII 1.5-5X20
Really happy with this gun . Also happy to see Horady ammo for it. Seem to work well for all my needs. Take care! Bob

My Guide Gun never shot the original Leverevolution ammo very well, maybe 3 or 3.5" @ 100 (scoped). When Hornady dropped the velocity of the ammo I was kinda pissed, then tried the new stuff...1.5" groups!:dancingbanana:

My standard 1895 has no scope and gets about 3 or 4 inches with its peep sight. That's the best that it, or I, can do with any ammo.

Damn old eyes!

When did Hornady drop the velocity?

I don't remember the exact numbers, I think it was around 150 or 175 fps. I only found out about it by accident, when a newly bought box of .45-70 Leverevolution ammo shot so much better, but to a different point of impact. I googled it (leverevolution ammo ballistics) and there was an explanation from Hornady indicating that the supplier of the powder that they used in the original ammo was unable to provide enough of it.
