I've been watching the Ellwood Epps web site waiting for the GBLs to show up. They showed up this week and they had 6 of them listed on their web site and they're all gone! Wow that was quick. I'm not 100% sure if I want one of those or the regular 1895. I think the standard rifle with the 22" barrel is often over looked in favour of the guide gun. I've yet to actually handle a GBL, though so I may change my mind once I have one in my hands. One of the local shops here is supposed to be getting a bunch of Marlins in any day now. I guess I better keep close tabs on them if I'm planning on getting one this year.

If it were me, I'd take the one with the big loop lever, they are quite functional, saves your hands during heavy recoil, and you can use the rifle with gloves on.

If your looking for a gun to handle that is pretty much as close to possible as the real 1895 GBL try finding a 336 BL. Same specs except bullet, twist rate and rifling. I handled both at the Sportsman show and you couldn't really tell ether one apart unless you looked at the data stamp on the barrel. I ended up buying a 336 BL 2 weeks ago from Epps and love it.

You bet, but because of the seating depth required, are not recommended for lever guns. Feeding issues. Which was too bad because a local shop had three boxes of the Hornady's on for a giveaway price.

Cheers,

With a wild west guns ejector and 5 minutes worth of file work to the carrier, they work just fine. Same thing for FTX bullets in a standard length case - for an extra 125fps or so.
