Marlin 1895 GS Stainless lever for $629.99 at a retailer- good?

Just as a datum, last time I placed a backorder with SIR/Cabelas on an 1894c, when the stock finally arrived, my invoice was updated to reflect an increase in wholesale price for the rifle (about $30). I'd honestly be surprised if Cabelas necessarily guarantees the price on backordered rifles, but it would be great news for those on backorder if they did.

When I bought my 336SS several years ago this happened to me. I called to make sure that I wasn't going to get hit with the increase and they honoured the sales price no problem at all.
 
I just called about my order (ordered on Feb 6th)... All she could tell me is that it is on back order. They have no idea how long till they come in but she did say the order will be filled.
 
Just called looking for an update. I was told that it was discontinued and that the order would not be filled. Anyone else feel like inquiring to see if you get a different answer?

That was the response I was getting originally, but not now. I ordered the beginning of Feb
 
I called again hoping to speak to someone who could give me more info. She did some checking (with the buyers etc) and called me back about an hour later.
Basically they have 51 orders for these but only 40 are comming in. If you ordered before the ad came off the website, chances are you will get one. If you ordered afterwards, you will not. They have no idea when these 40 will be comming in.
 
I called today... The lady I spoke to checked the "stock overview". She said they have 40 coming in and orders for 49 (looks like a couple cancellations). She confirmed orders will be shipped in the priority that they were received. Like super7 said they have no idea when they will come in but said "they have orders coming in every day". I'm just hoping they arrive in time for the spring bear hunt.
 
I checked at the beginning of the week and was told that I was # 12 in the list for my order placed on Feb 3. I was told that it could take up to six months for delivery
 
I just called and was told that they have been discontinued and that they don't have any coming in. When I told the lady that I was told the last time I called that there were 40 some on order she told me that not even the purchasers know what is on order. Not sure how that works but ok. I am hoping that this lady just doesn't know what she is talking about and that once these 40 what ever come in that there won't be any more coming in after that. I am hoping that is what she realy meant to say when she said they have been discontinued. If anyone has any more information on these I would like to hear from you.
