My nephew bought one a few months back with the magpul furniture it’s not buttery smooth not at all more like a jamomatic. He’s so disheartened by it he hasn’t even reached out to anyone yet. By far the smoothest one that I’ve handled was one of the latest Remington models.
 
Even small towns are starting to see the odd one or two show up, so people are getting them at retail prices….scalpers prices are coming down too (atleast scalpers that wants to sell😁). Patience is all it takes to own one at retail prices

Glad I'm not the only one. Don't get me wrong, I love my marlin almost as much as I love my dog, but that action has always been action only a mother could love. I oiled it up and it worked a little better, but mostly I just have to remember to put my purse down before I cycle it.
I love it, but smooth she sure aint!

I tend to agree with you here. I had a late Remlin Trapper (2019) lever gun in .4570 and it was great, super smooth action, felt well made. I have only shot 1 newer Ruger Marlin and it suffered multiple malfunctions the only time I tried it.

Might be anecdotal and sample size of one admitted, but that has been my experience with them.

Whys that? Do they need to be smoothed out or something?

I own no lever actions so its genuine curiosity...these things for whatever reason are a hot item and i thought that ruger improved everything on it...
 
Pretty much all lever actions are hot commodities these days ; but like anything , some are just smoother than others......one of the benefits of buying one in person is that it allows a buyer to check it over prior to laying down the cash as not all may be created equal in quality and smoothness.
 
They are coming into the country quick.
I’m on a lot of waiting lists from years ago.

I’ve got 3 phone calls this week saying they had a 45-70 SBL for me.

I made 3 people’s week I’m sure lol
 
Marlin Dark was smooth as butter. SBL was perfection out of the box. My trapper with magpul stock and fore end is pretty rough out of the box. Will have to lube it up and play with it for a bit while on the couch.
