Thinking about buying a guide gun in 45/70, who makes replacement stocks ie: laminate or synthetic? I know the XLR line has them but want a guide gun.
I searched but can't seem to find any.

I have been talking with Kurt from Boyds Gunstocks in regards to sending him my walnut stocks as exchange and he will use them to make the templates or whatever it is that he needs to make mass produced stocks.

I want black/grey laminate to put onto my Marlin 1895GS 45-70. I got so busy that I haven't talked to Kurt for quite some time now. I'll try and call tomorrow and see if he is still interested in the deal.

You guys are quick! Here is a picture...not that it shows much.

Will the pistol grip stocks and lever of the Marlin XLR 45-70 fit the 1895GS?

Also I have never fired the pistol gripped Marlins do they handle the felt recoil better than the straight gripped Guide Gun models?

I think so, but that would be my opinion only.

I like the feel of the pistol grip better. I was thinking I might shorten mine and then sell my guide gun.

I have found out that the straight and pistol gripped rifles are completely interchangable if you have both styles of rifles but I don't have to worry about that now.

I have been looking for the black/grey stocks for a while now for my 1895GS and low and behold I found a link to Davidson's Guns in the States that had a limited run on the straight gripped Marlin 1895GS with the blac/grey stocks I have been looking for.

I didn't want to buy the entire rifle so I phoned Marlin the other day and asked if they would sell me the stocks if they had any left. At first the lady told me no but offered for me to leave a voice mail with her boss.

Yesterday my wife recieved a phone call telling her that I could buy the stocks soooooo..... this morning I ordered them direct from Marlin. :dancingbanana:

I'm having them sent to my PO Box in Blaine, Washington because they cannot ship direct to Canada.

I can hardly wait....
