Marlin 1895 TSBL in 45/70

It'll be interesting to see the quality differences between the ruger made marlins and the remington produced rifles.

I can honestly say that the one I have is every bit as good as any JM one I've had in the past. I usually can't leave well enough alone so I tore it completely apart a couple of years ago and gave all of the internals a de burr and polish. The rifle shoots the same load I have run for the last 15-20 years in any 45-70 I have owned, a hard cast tempered 405gr gas check from and RCBS mould, and Rel-7 gets it around 1600fps. As of yet, I have never recovered a bullet and most of the animals fell within a few feet of where they stood.

Nice and good choice, the dark guns are very cool and a bit easier to mount optics right out of the box which is nice. Curious if you’ve made use of the threaded barrel for a brake at all?

Since they were such good sellers I wouldn’t be surprised if the dark makes a reappearance from Ruger sooner than later.

No I havent made use of the threads with a brake. My rifle is a hunting gun and I hate needing ear pro while hunting. I wish a suppressor was an option in canada....
