Has anyone fitted a Marlin 1895GS with the DRC Custom large loop lever?

I just tried installing one, and some minor fitting is required. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Just thought I would ask before I start filing away. I suspect I know what part has to be filed, just want a second opinion.

Thanks!

Where did you buy it from if you dont mind me asking? Sorry, I havent done much research on the subject.

Mine is a DRC Custom loop. There is also Wild West Guns that makes large loops.

I managed to get it fitted, there was just a very little metal that had to be filed away.

It fits beautifully, and looks gorgeous, but I don't know if I like it...

Brownells sells both models, the Wild West lever looks more like the "cowboy" style, the DRC is more functional looking.

Steyr, I'm thinking of doing the same to my 1895 for use with gloves on. Is the improvement in finger room for gloves worth it? does the large loop make it more "sloppy" without gloves on? please let me know your thoughts ( or anybody else out there who has done this!)

Ya, she left a little later than anticipated :dancingbanana:

So anyways, the loop is growning on me. It works fantastic with gloves, though without gloves it is a little sloppy. It took quite a bit of fitting on three different parts of the lever to get it running 100% though, but it is as smooth as butter now. Highly recommended especially if you intend on using your GG during the winter months.

Looks good. Just asking, is it any improvement over the original as far as the recoil of heavier loads causing the lever to rap the fingers is concerned?

Nice! Thanks for the update. Sounds like the girlfriend had you tied up for a while :D

So, how do these work out , when used with gloves on ? The space about the trigger does not seem to be much bigger than regular loops, so how does the gloved finger fit and feel when pulling the pin ?
To me, it looks like it would still be better to be shucking the glove, for the few seconds of trigger work. ??

Hey Teapot

Go to Brownells website, in the search box in the upper left corner type in 100-000-548 then hit search. The stainless lever is Model 6, $148 US:dancingbanana: Need one of those or the Wildwest Guns version, undecided yet:runaway:
