Of guns I drool at, and hope to acquire some day.

I fondled one of these beauties up at the Toronto Sportsmen Show and instantly loved it.

Anyone have one? What are you're opinions. Im thinking this would make an excellent short range moose gun when im pushing swamps out.

I've converted a guide gun to match the specs with the exception of the stock on mine is walnut instead of laminate. With handloads you can shoot sub-moa, but it takes some fiddling. They are sensitive to barrel harmonics and I haven't found a factory round that did better than 2 MOA.

The XS sights are kick ass. I'll say that. I kind of prefer the DLC lever to the WWG version - I want it big enough for my gloved hand, but not so big it interferes with a pack, you know? For the same reason, a lot of folks tend to like the cowboy version with a straight stock - with shortened bbl and mag. If you don't mind a 19" bbl (instead of the 18.5 shown), you can get an extra round of magazine capacity too.

Make sure to get a WWG ejector if you pick one up. They gave you an extra bit of OAL clearance and a firmer ejection.

One feature I wish Marlin would go for is a lever lock that engages with the safety to keep your action from flying open and a round from coming out if your pack hooks on the lever.

I haven't seen one in person yet, but have shot a buddies 1895 45/70 and that sold me .... sweet guns
I had to have an SBL as soon as I heard of them . I have a deposit down at my local shop to get the first one they get in . Been waiting since last fall ? I am told they should be getting a few in "soon" ..... cant wait

Ellwood Epps is listing them....a bit pricey....Shooters CHoice in Waterloo also lists them....even more pricey....I like the GBL, blued rather than stainless. Lebaron said they are awaiting shipment.

My perfect Marlin would be a blued steel and walnut, straight stocked and standard straight lever rifle with a ported guide gun length barrel and a full magazine tube with a peep sight (no rails) in 45-70.

Ive got enough blue/walnut in the cabinet as it is. Its time for some stainless/laminate I think. Plus it will be used primarily in wet, swampy, scratchy conditions, so that extra protection will come in handy.

Ive got one of the stainless big loops, and im extremely happy. feels good to hold, shoots awewome, i love it, will never get rid of it. i paid 975 for it new. put out a WTB on the EE and someone had one within a week of posting it. LUCKY ME!!

I don't have much good wood and nice finishes in my gun. I never liked the salt and pepper look - if it wasn't taboo, I'd stick a synthetic stock and get it parkerized. I just think it's a good bang for the buck, stainless is more expensive, although rust resistant.

The most important think for me is a simple peep system with a combat style flip for close range and farther range, with a full mag tube and a short, ported barrel.
