Marlin 1895SBL .45-70 IN STOCK

My Freind just ordered a GS and it was gross. The wood to metal was off, the ammo tube wasn't centered, the hammer and lever edges were sharp enough to cut you and the ejection port internals were sharp enough to send you to the hospital. I'm not kidding, you push that bullet into the port and you had razor sharp edges on the top and bottom. He was going to suck it up and take it apart and debur, smooth it up etc.. But then he saw the crown. It was so off center, that it was barely even cut on one side. And I believe this was a 2014 gun.

He brought it back to the shop, thy had four more that had bad crowns and one that had good crown and an off center ammo tube. He settled on that one instead of store credit.

I waited years to stumble across a JM and I'm glad I waited.

What's a Jm?

Proof stamp for rifles made by Marlin before they were bought by Remington. Reputed to be of better quality. Like most things, they were made better in years gone by...

JM vs. Remlin

What's a Jm?

It's the barrel stamp indicating that is was made by Marlin, not Remlin.

I bought an 1895SBL before Remington took over and it is really nice. I bought an 1895GBL for my wife later and could only get the Remlin version, I went through a few at the LGS before finding a nice one, although it has a crappy trigger and the sights were poop too. I put a set of XS Sights on it and now I'm after a Wild West Happy Trigger kit. All will be good then.

Edit: too slow I guess!

I talked to the sales manager and he said everything build starting in 2016 was built on brand new equipment.

I'd think about buying one if I could get close up pictures of the specific gun that I was buying.
The checkering, wood/metal fit and general workmanship on some of the remlins I have inspected in stores was substandard.

2) every shipment to our store post 2015 has been issue free.

I bought one from Wanstalls about a year ago, and they went ABOVE AND BEYOND with my purchase. I had some "issues" that I wanted looked at, and they physically checked everything for me (ON THREE GUNS), and ended up sending me the one that in their opinion was the best one. I believe the hand written note said something like "Of the three guns I inspected for you, this one is the one that I would have put in my personal collection".

Now, granted, they could have been blowing smoke, but I was EXTREMELY happy with the one I got, and with the service provided. Wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.
