I saw a like new Marlin 2000 in my local gun shop. It looked very good to me. Is it a good target rifle ? How much will be the reasonable price ? I have a Walter KKM sight shot already and will this Marlin 2000 as good as my Walter ? I like the look of it very much ( in blue ) and I like .22 rifles. Thanks.

In my opinion, they usually ask too much for the 2000 in the stores. I guess it's just too cool looking. Plus of course, you don't see many for for sale.

It would be nice to have one but knowing that I can get some world class guns for around the $500 mark, I'd have trouble paying that for a Marlin.

I have a Marlin 2000L. Very good condition with peep sights. Laminate stock. I payed $600 for mine. Maybe a bit high of a price but it is a nice gun. Not as nice as my Anschutz or any of those guns though. I use mine for Silhouette.
At that price, I'd want it, really think about it, but probably not buy it. Specially plus taxes. Would depend on my bank account at the time.

Slash 5, I have never put a scope on it beofore but at 25 yards I can often get ragged hole groups with it with open sights.
I had one and couldn't get it to shoot with the Anschutz or Sako's that I have had. This was with a 15x scope as well. I wouldn't look at another one when I could get a Walther/Anschutz/ or Sako.
I would recommend that you keep the walther and spend some money on a scope.

It's at Smoking Guns FX. Going by that review, I assume it is an early one since it appears to be a composite stock.
Cool looking gun but $500 - after taxes and shipping, it'd blow the hell out of $600.
Plus, from that review it was designed as a youth gun - is the stock adjusted that far out for display or does it need the length?
A Crosman Challenger 2000 would be the perfect companion gun for practice - looks almost the same.
