Are the 25 round mags for the Marlin model 70/795 legal or prohibited? I would like to find one but not sure if they are legal.

They are legal I have 2 I bought at bass pro.

heads up the plastic feed lips on the pro mag ones are sharp and I scuff my fingers when loading them :(

I have a bunch of the ProMag ones and they work great. Site sponsor HiCal carries them, and they occassionally go on sale with free shipping if you're patient:

On sale & free shipping sounds good.
Is that like a Black Friday sale they have? I have the patience of a Saint & can wait until they are on sale. Well, about a 25 round mag that I really don't need I can be.........

More like a random "Oh, sh@t, got all my cash in a late shipment of Turkish guns and I need to make rent" sale.

HiCal's a good outfit, but their sales are unpredictably timed. Worth poking by their site every week or so just to see what might be up.

Ok, will do. Thanks for the heads up!

Can anyone explain how a 25 rounder for a 10/22 is prohib, but a 25 rounder for the Marlin is apparently ok ?

Because the Horse Police are still following the rules with the Marlin mags, and they choose to ignore the rules for Ruger.

Yah, really. The RCMP opinion on the 25 round mags for the 10/22 has nothing to do with the law. It is an arbitrary decision on their part, and one they have yet to have the stones to try and back up in court. There have been several cases where people have been charged for possession of a prohibited device for having the "high capacity mags" for the 10/22, and not once have the charges made it to court, because they know a judge will #####slap them.

...Ottawa defence lawyer Solomon Friedman, who often takes clients in gun control cases, said he's had three such cases in the last year.

"It's apparent to me that the Crown does not have an appetite to prosecute them," he said in an interview. "The RCMP's legal opinion is wrong.

"Every gun owner that I know has these magazines."
