Marlin 30/30 Info Help???

Just wonderin if anyone can tell me year of manufact. Model# and Whatever else. Marlin .30 .30 Lever 336 gold Trigg. SN# 221+++19 no side pin safety.

X2 on 1978....for a while the Marlin serial numbers were a countdown to 2000 in that the first two numbers, subtracted from 2000, give you the year of manufacture. Why? Not a clue.

yup. I have a '78 build that starts with 22 as well.

Just haven't figured out if mine is a "C" or "W" model (same gold plated trigger, no safety etc)

No biggie, pretty common so I'm sure mine isn't one of these $1000 "collector pieces" that pop up on EE time to time.
